El presidente de Ucrania, Vladímir Zelenski, declaró este domingo en el marco de su visita a Berlín (Alemania) que Kiev quiere crear una «coalición de cazas» para obtener aviones de combate modernos con los que puedan contrarrestar la superioridad aérea de Rusia.
«Hoy Rusia tiene superioridad en el espacio aéreo. Queremos revertir eso», expresó el mandatario ucraniano en rueda de prensa tras reunirse con el canciller alemán, Olaf Scholz.
Con relación a la pregunta sobre la posibilidad de que Berlín envíe aviones a Kiev, el jefe del Gobierno alemán evitó dar una respuesta concreta. «Ya hemos entregado mucho, especialmente en el área de defensa aérea. Los apoyaremos [a ucranianos] durante el tiempo que sea necesario», afirmó, citado por NTV.
Hasta el momento los países occidentales se han negado a dotar a Kiev con aviones de su propia fabricación, limitándose a entregas de aeronaves de la época soviética.
En una entrevista con The Washington Post publicada este sábado, Zelenski dijo respecto a los combates aéreos con Rusia: «Si tienen superioridad absoluta en el cielo, que así sea. Para resolver un problema así, hay que ser honesto al respecto. Nos gustaría que nuestros socios nos proporcionarán cazas occidentales, por supuesto el F-16. Hay otros cazas (Eurofighters), etc. Trabajamos con todos ellos para obtener algo en este ámbito».
