El presidente chino, Xi Jinping, consolidó hoy su poder después de que la Asamblea Nacional Popular (ANP, equivalente a un Legislativo) le designase para un tercer mandato presidencial de cinco años (2023-2028) inédito entre sus predecesores.
El pleno de la ANP ratificó hoy la permanencia de Xi, también secretario general del gobernante Partido Comunista de China (PCCh), después de que el órgano aprobase en 2018 una enmienda constitucional que eliminaba el límite de dos mandatos consecutivos de cinco años para los presidentes chinos.
Los 2.952 diputados presentes en la Asamblea, en la que es altamente infrecuente que se plantee oposición a las medidas presentadas, aprobaron la continuidad de Xi como jefe de Estado de forma unánime.EFE/EPA/Mark R. Cristino
En el pleno, celebrado en el Gran Salón del Pueblo, situado en la plaza de Tiananmen, se refrendaron además los nombramientos de Han Zheng como vicepresidente y de Zhao Leji como presidente del Comité Permanente de la ANP, puesto que corresponde al de jefe del Legislativo.
