El servicio Geológico Colombiano emitió la noche del jueves 30 de marzo la alerta naranja ante una inminente erupción del Nevado del Ruiz, ubicado en los límites de los departamentos de Caldas y Tolima. La actividad volcánica del Nevado del Ruiz, maravilla natural nacional, en tan solo dos días casi ha duplicado los movimientos sísmicos. Por tal razón fue emitida la alerta amarilla.
“El nivel de actividad del volcán cambia a nivel naranja de actividad o (II): erupción probable en término de días o semanas. Este nivel obedece al incremento de la actividad sísmica que se ha presentado en los últimos días (sic)”, encabezaron el comunicado de la entidad.
La misiva señala que desde la semana pasada el Ruiz ha tenido un incremento en su actividad sísmica que se asocia a la fracturación de roca dentro del edificio volcánico, que se ha registrado principalmente en su flanco suroccidental, entre 2 y 5 kilómetros del cráter arenas, a profundidades entre 2 y 4 kilómetros a la cima.
