La Policía capitalina informó que el oficial Gunther Hashida, encargado de velar por el orden durante el asalto del Capitolio de EE.UU. por manifestantes, ocurrido el pasado 6 de enero, fue hallado sin vida en su casa el pasado jueves.
Se trata del tercer caso similar desde la invasión de la sede legislativa que dejó un saldo de más de 100 Policía heridos.
Antes del suicidio de Hashida, al menos cuatro policías destinados a proteger el Capitolio aquel día han muerto. El oficial Brian Sicknick sufrió un derrame cerebral y murió por causas naturales un día después de la irrupción en la sede legislativa. Los agentes Howard Liebengood y Jeffrey Smith se quitaron la vida en enero..
Mientras, según los datos del Departamento de Justicia de los Estados Unidos más de 500 personas ya han sido apresadas en casi todos los 50 estados en relación con el asalto al Capitolio.
