República Dominicana. – Nicolás Maduro, actual presidente de Venezuela participará en la XXVIII Cumbre Iberoamericana de Jefes de Estados y de Gobierno empezó este viernes en Santo Domingo, confirmaron en el acto inaugural celebrado en la fortaleza colonial de Ozama.
Por el momento, Venezuela estaba representada en la reunión regional por el canciller del país caribeño, Yván Gil, quien realizó varias reuniones hoy, entre ellas con su par español, José Manuel Albares. Gil, señaló que los países presentes en la XXVIII Cumbre Iberoamericana detallaron, entre sus acuerdos, una «condena unánime» a las sanciones económicas contra la nación petrolera.
“Hemos pedido una condena (a las sanciones) y ha sido una condena unánime. Ha quedado reflejado en el documento: el uso de medidas coercitivas unilaterales está condenado por esta cumbre”, indicó Gil en declaraciones transmitidas por el canal estatal Venezolana de Televisión (VTV) desde la capital de República Dominicana.
Encima de Maduro llegará también al territorio dominicano el presidente de Costa Rica, Rodrigo Chaves y el presidente colombiano, Gustavo Petro.
El entorno histórico de la fortaleza de Ozama, la primera estructura militar permanente de América, recibió hoy a los líderes iberoamericanos presentes ya en Santo Domingo.
Todos ellos fueron recibidos uno a uno por el presidente de República Dominicana, el país anfitrión, Luis Abinader, su esposa, la primera dama Raquel Arbaje, y el secretario general iberoamericano, el chileno Andrés Allamand. “Esta será una cumbre dedicada a las personas y dirigida a tener resultados concretos”, dijo Allamand para abrir la reunión regional, que tendrá mañana su jornada principal con la celebración del plenario de sesiones.
La Cumbre Iberoamericana está conformada por los 22 países de habla española y portuguesa en América, así como España, Portugal y el reino de Andorra. La reunión bianual este año tendrá como lema “Juntos por una Iberoamérica justa y sostenible».
