El Ministerio Público de Paraguay reiteró su solicitud al Gobierno de EE.UU. para que informe sobre la causa que se abrió en contra del vicepresidente Hugo Velázquez, a quien el Departamento de Estado norteamericano señaló por «prácticas corruptas, incluido el tráfico de influencias y el soborno».
«El Ministerio Público aguarda que el pedido sea respondido dentro del plazo existente de 90 días», apuntó la Fiscalía de Paraguay en un comunicado difundido en redes sociales.
Se trata del segundo requerimiento que realiza la dependencia latinoamericana al Gobierno estadounidense, después de que en agosto del 2022 pidiera informes sobre las indagatorias cuando Washington designó al vicepresidente como «significativamente corrupto».
