Gershkovich fue acusado por un tribunal en Moscú de espionaje y deberá permanecer detenido durante dos meses. El reportero de 31 años, reconocido por su rigor periodístico, fue detenido en Ekaterinburgo (a unos 1.800 kilómetros al este de Moscú) por sospechas de “espionaje”.
En una audiencia ante un tribunal de Moscú negó las acusaciones, según la agencia de prensa estatal rusa Tass. El periodista estadounidense está en detención preventiva hasta el 29 de mayo, una medida que puede ser extendida en espera de un eventual juicio que podría acarrear una condena de hasta 20 años de prisión.
