El Gobierno de Ecuador anunció la destitución de altos cargos de la esfera de Seguridad en el país tras el asesinato múltiple de siete reos implicados en la ejecución del candidato presidencial Fernando Villavicencio, informó la Secretaría General de Comunicación de la Presidencia.
«Remoción del cargo del director del Servicio Nacional de Atención Integral a Personas Adultas Privadas de Libertad y a Adolescentes Infractores (SNAI), Luis Ordóñez, y el respectivo encargo al coronel Fausto Cobo, actualmente director del Centro de Inteligencia Estratégica (CIES)», indica el comunicado.
En la reunión del Gabinete de Seguridad ecuatoriano, encabezado por el presidente Guillermo Lasso, se dispuso la separación del cargo del director general de Investigación de la Policía Nacional, el general Alain Luna, y su consecutiva baja del cuerpo policial, y se dispone reorganizar el alto mando policial.
Además, el Gobierno nacional presentó una denuncia penal contra el director subrogante del penal de Guayas, identificado como José M., «para que rinda su versión ante la Fiscalía».
Después de que se diera a conocer la ejecución de seis personas vinculadas al caso, el presidente Guillermo Lasso suspendió una visita que tenía agendada en Corea del Sur y convocó a reunión urgente del gabinete de seguridad.
Una séptima víctima fue ejecutada en el Centro de Privación Provisional de Libertad Pichincha número 1, mientras que otros seis colombianos resultaron asesinados en el penal de Guayaquil.
