Las autoridades sanitarias dominicanas alertaron el pasado miércoles sobre la existencia de un brote de chinches detectado en cinco sectores del Distrito Nacional.
Según informó el doctor Jesús Suardí, encargado del Área IV de Salud Pública, el primer reporte de la presencia de este insecto lo hicieron ciudadanos del sector La Ciénaga, en Semana Santa del 2021.
Las primeras manifestaciones en el cuerpo de las personas cuando les pica un insecto de estos, son picazón, ronchas y molestias en la piel, que podrían causar mayores molestias por las altas temperaturas que se registran en República Dominicana.
Agrega que también han detectado el brote de chinches (afecta a los ciudadanos a través de picaduras en la piel para extraerle la sangre y de esta manera alimentarse) en algunas “zonas aisladas” de los sectores Villa María, Simón Bolívar, Gualey y La Zurza.
Los chinches se alojan en muebles, camas, roperos y prendas de vestir para picar tanto a humanos como a animales, preferiblemente cuando están en reposo o durmiendo.
Suardí manifestó además, que las autoridades de salud están combatiendo el brote con fumigación en el entorno afectado y algunos centros educativos de dichos barrios.
Para evitar que el insecto se adhiera a la piel, el galeno instó a la población a mantener la higiene en el hogar, el lavado de sábanas con frecuencia y el uso de repelente.
