El país está percibiendo el mayor brote de gripe aviar, «altamente contagioso» y jamás observado en la historia. Desde el año 2021 han sido inmoladas 48 millones de aves, en tanto existe un brote total de 187 en aves cautivas, 3.573 en aves silvestres y 2.467 en aves de corral.
El reciente informe de la Autoridad Europea de Seguridad Alimentaria, el Centro Europeo para la Prevención y el Control de Enfermedades (ECDC) y el Laboratorio de Referencia de la Unión Europea para la Influenza Aviar demuestra que la extensión geográfica del brote no tiene precedentes y afecta a 37 países europeos.
«Afortunadamente, no ha habido infecciones humanas durante los recientes brotes de gripe aviar en la Unión Europea/Espacio Económico Europeo», comunicó Andrea Ammon, directora del ECDC.
«Es vital que los médicos, los expertos de laboratorio y los expertos en salud, tanto en el sector animal como en el humano, colaboren y mantengan un enfoque coordinado», también agregó.
El informe, publicado este 3 de octubre, previene de que ciertos virus que afectan a animales como los cerdos o las aves «pueden infectar ocasionalmente a los humanos y causar enfermedades de leves a muy graves» y pide a la población a estar en alerta.
