Un tribunal canadiense dictaminó que el caso de Meng Wanzhou ejecutiva de la compañía Huawei cumple con el umbral de doble criminalidad, es decir que sería un delito tanto en Estados Unidos como en Canadá. Un portavoz de Huawei declaro estar decepcionado con el fallo. En tanto se cree que China en represalia arresto a dos comerciantes canadienses; el gobierno de Canadá alega que esas son detenciones arbitrarias.
