Un servidor de correo electrónico del Buró Federal de Investigaciones (FBI por sus siglas en inglés) de EEUU sufrió un ciberataque, según el proyecto Spamhaus, que rastrea el spam y las ciberamenazas.
«El siguiente gráfico muestra el tráfico de correo electrónico originado por el servidor de correo del FBI (http://mx-east-ic.fbi.gov | 153.31.119.142) implicado. Se pueden ver claramente los dos picos causados por el falso aviso [de ciberataque] de anoche», escribió Spamhaus en su cuenta de Twitter, publicando una imagen del gráfico de actividad.
Según el proyecto, los correos electrónicos con la falsa advertencia del Departamento de Seguridad Nacional de EEUU se enviaron al menos a 100.000 direcciones «extraídas» de la base de datos del Registro Estadounidense de Números de Internet (ARIN).
