El expresidente haitiano,Jean Bertrand Aristide, arribaría este 26 de julio a Haití, luego de casi un mes en Cuba donde fue atendido por complicaciones a causa del coronavirus.
El exmandatario, quien es fundador del partido Fanmi Lavalas, viajaría acompañado de la política Maryse Narcisse, y debe llegar al aeropuerto Toussaint Louverture, cerca del mediodía del viernes.
El regreso de Aristide ocurre en un tenso momento de pugnas políticas tras el asesinato del entonces presidente haitiano Jovenel Moïse el 7 de julio. Mientras, al menos tres figuras se disputan la jefatura del Estado.
Aunque el expresidente no está al frente de Fanmi Lavalas, mantiene un gran número de simpatizantes, especialmente en el barrio de Tabarre en la capital, donde construyó una universidad.
Aristide alcanzó la presidencia de Haití por abrumadora mayoría en dos ocasiones (1991 y 2000), sin embargo, fue blanco de golpes de Estado y movilizaciones que le impidieron concluir los mandatos, en tanto en 2014 un juez prohibió que abandonara el país.
